Quick Connections: Are you a job seeker?

1. Are you a job seeker looking for work as a support worker and mentor?

2. Would you be available for a couple of hours on Sunday, 20th September 2026, 1 pm to 3 pm, to attend our Quick Connections event to meet with potential employers to see if there is a connection? If you have answered yes to these 2 questions please register using the blue RSVP button above.

Registrations are essential! This free event is for: 

⭐ Job Seekers ready to meet potential employers, working as a support worker and mentor for disabled people and their whānau/family. You don't need experience as a care worker.

Here are some examples of what disabled people, or whānau/family of disabled people as employers might be looking for:

• A buddy to go out into the community with to go to a movie, go to the beach, enjoy the park and gardens, or go to an event or class

• Opportunity to learn a new skill or start a new hobby like a hand craft, an instrument, cooking and/or meal planning, catch a bus, ride a bike, scooter or skateboard, use You Tube, fishing – the list is endless!

• Mentoring

• Household and family tasks

• Personal cares and home help

• Covering night shifts (awake or asleep)

• Driving a Mobility vehicle or your own vehicle

This community event is all about making meaningful connections — bringing together job seekers with disabled people and their family/whānau who are looking for great people to support them or their loved ones to live their best life.

• Be ready to share what you can offer to potential employers.

About us: We are the Whānau/ Family representatives on the Waitaha Enabling Good Lives (EGL) Regional Leadership Group. (WRLG).  Our purpose is champion the use of the Enabling Good Lives Approach and Principles. Integral to EGL is that disabled people and their whānau/family have choice and control over who supports them.
